Sea, Sand, & Stars Outdoor Classroom Dedication Set for Friday, October 14th at 1:00pm
Sea, Sand, & Stars at OBES will be the fourth outdoor classroom certified in Baldwin County as an official Alabama Outdoor Classroom School and will join 250 schools previously certified across the state of Alabama.
As an official outdoor classroom school, Orange Beach Elementary’s outdoor classroom will serve as a model for other schools in South Alabama and across the state who would like to develop an outdoor classroom site on their school grounds for hands-on learning opportunities.
The dedication ceremony will include comments from Principal Jonathan Ellis, Orange Beach City Administrator, Ken Grimes, representatives of the Alabama Wildlife Federation, Alabama Department of Natural Resources, and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Special guests include Orange Beach Mayor, Tony Kennon, and City Council Members, the Baldwin County Board of Education, and the family of former principal and visionary, Steven W. Baker.
The dedication ceremony will conclude with Sea, Sand, & Stars being designated as an official Alabama Outdoor Classroom and will be presented a special award to acknowledge their accomplishments.
Following the ceremony, a tour of the outdoor classroom will be provided for all dignitaries and guests with a special presentation by the fifth grade classes.
Parents are invited to attend the ceremony with the school and are advised to bring sunglasses and beach blankets!
