Students raised over $5,000.00!

On Friday, March 19, Orange Beach Elementary School held the 7th Annual Student Walk-a-Thon to raise money for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life.

Students enlisted sponsors that pledged an amount for every lap that the student walked. The number of laps walked was tallied and students then collected the amount pledged from their sponsors. Students also had the opportunity to purchase and a wear a button created in memory or honor of someone affected by cancer. Students collecting at least $10.00 in donations earned an extra 30 minutes of recess. Students that collected at least $50.00 in pledges will be treated to a special trip to Orange Beach Kid's Park.

Relay for Life represents hope that that those who face cancer will be supported, those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, and that one day cancer will be eliminated. We hope that students will learn that they, too, can assist in improving the lives of others.

This year, through community and parental support, Orange Beach Elementary School students raised $5,807.60 for the Walk-a-Thon! Thank you to everyone who came to walk with students, donated water, and pledged their support in our efforts to find a cure for cancer!
