Mrs. Fran Drake

Orange Beach Elementary School teachers voted Mrs. Fran Drake as the 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Drake has been teaching at OBES since the school opened in 1997. She served as a second grade teacher for three years, and then became Guidance Counselor. This is Mrs. Drake's tenth year as counselor. 

This is the second time Mrs. Drake has been chosen as "Teacher of the Year" here at OBES. She received the honor for the 1999-2000 school year, also. Mrs. Drake is a member of the Alabama Counseling Association, Alabama School Counseling Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Society for Educators. She has organized many school-wide programs to the benefit of the entire student body with programs such as drug resistance education and career day. She also helps meet specific student needs on a day-to-day basis by enlisting the help of community members and organizations. She coordinates volunteer tutoring as well as donations of items for students in need.
